“Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.”
This was said by Wyatt Earp regarding gunfights, but don’t worry, this is not some random history lesson.
Though that’s a nice tip by a man who survived the gunfight… Anyway to the point!
This was the first thing that came to our minds as we saw the T1 Tomahawk digital tape measure by Reekon tools.
After successfully raising more than $2,000,000 during their first campaign in 2020, not only Reekon Tools are back with a new campaign, but also managed to raise almost $2million by the time we’re doing this review.
That looks promising, but will it survive against our big 4?
Buckle up as we go on a deep dive to analyze the product and its team.
Is this a truly new product that you can’t find on the market? Or this is a product that defines an entirely new product category. In some cases, the combination of several features into one or the introduction of a new feature to an old product are also considered to be an innovation.
The purpose of digitalizing job sites is mainly to make things faster and more accurate by reducing or even eliminating human errors.
So let’s start breaking things down a little.
One of the awesome features we found on the T1 Tomahawk professional digital tape measure is that you’ll get to see a live display.
As you measure, the live display of numbers are shown on the OLED screen, and with just one click, you can save the measurements on the side-mounted e-paper.
That’s unless you enjoy keeping things a bit more challenging and try to memorize the numbers – Well, good luck with that part.
We’ve seen measurement tapes with a digital display before, and we’re pretty much sure if you’re into tech, you’ve seen or heard about them too. Having said that, the part where it gets more interesting is that this one can be connected to your smartphone to save the logs and share the layouts with your team.
Here you might say that in a digital age, surely someone has done this before… and your right!
T1 Tomahawk is not the first digital measuring tape that does that and we’ll elaborate more in the competitor’s section.
Now, the Bluetooth connection of the Reekon Tools digital tape measure paired with the ROCK App allows unprecedented measuring and sharing of data alongside your crew.
THE ROCK App also allows for a centralized collection of all the measurements and can be paired with their previous product called M1 Caliber Miter Saw Measuring Tool. This allows full digital measuring workflows from capture to execution.
One other nifty innovative feature we want to point out is the green laser light extension. This laser shows accurate alignments. It’s not fully similar to the laser measurement tools that project the laser from the front and the rear of the body.
The T1 Tomahawk projects a laser on both left and right sides for approximately 90mm, making the marking process accurate and easy.
Again keep in mind that the product is still in the crowdfunding phase. This means we physically didn’t get a hold of one, and the review is based on our competitive researchand tech knowledge. With this being said, let’s jump to see the market competition.
How much better is it than the competition? Is it faster? Bigger? Cooler? More affordable? There needs to be a solid reason why you should back this project over any other.

For example, similarly, the latter also has Bluetooth connectivity and can be paired to your smartphone. There, through the App, you can take a photo and add notes of the dimensions. The measurements can be transferred and can be exported as PDF or CAD files. So Bluetooth connectivity and having an app is something that other brands did previously.
It weighs more than the rest of the competitors, that might be due to the rugged body – providing durability which is highly appreciated on job sites.
The tape of T1 Tomahawk isn’t the longest in the whole market, however when it comes to comparing it to the mentioned competitors it has the longest.
So far, it looks like it can be a good tool but the review isn’t over till we talk about the team behind it.
How capable is the team? Have they developed something like this before? Do they have crowdfunding experience? Manufacturing experience? A lot of campaigns fail to deliver their product because they don’t know what they’re doing.
Reekon Tools is a team of carpenters and MIT engineers. They’re based in Boston and founded in 2020.
That was the year they launched the first product that brought them huge success, as we mentioned previously.
As Tech I Want, we wanted a solid review. This wasn’t enough. So we went on checking further details to see what people think about their previous product that’s already on the market. This is where we stumbled upon the fact that out of 473 amazon reviews, they managed to score 4.3/5.
This doesn’t mean that everything was flawless, there were some 1 star reviews as well, but the majority were satisfied.
That’s an important thing because most crowdfunding campaigns are done by first-timers who are trying to pave their way in the market.
So, having people who have past experience that could satisfy their customers is a good way to show reliability.
They’re also responsive when it comes to their latest campaign – the T1 Tomahawk professional digital tape measure – which leads us to the fourth field in our reviews: The attitude
How transparent are the campaigners? Do they give their backers valuable updates on their progress? Do they engage with their backers? Crowdfunding is all about community, sharing information, and building meaningful relationships with the people who fund your project.
Another way to evaluate campaigners is by their attitude. For that, we went through the comments to see the engagement between them and the backer community.
Reekon Tools answer promptly from what we saw. Their responses were polite, on point, and descriptive. Despite that, if you go to their past campaign, there are some unanswered questions, and on Amazon, you can find some negative reviews – which is a normal thing.
Creators should get that even though they ship their products, they should provide support later on. It’s not a limited-time thing and shouldn’t be out of the scope.
We also noticed that they’re not that consistent when it comes to replying to their social media posts. Few of their posts have no reply from their side. We do get it. Most creators start with smaller teams, but now that they’ve grown they should focus on providing the support their customers need.
Conclusion & Public Opinion
Overall, T1 Tomahawk Professional Digital Tape Measure seems to be a functional tool to have on a job site.
It is a product with great features and a huge potential to be a new-to-world tool that can be common in every day use.
Behind the product is the Reekon Tools team with a good reliability score. And hopefully with better customer support in this campaign.
The product has a chance to be shipped to your door because they have done it before. Though there’s the possibility of receiving it late just like the majority of campaign products.
Make sure to check out their campaign page on Kickstarter before it ends
