Memory is a valuable part of one’s EDC. Whether you are taking photos outdoors, recording music in a studio, or doing remote work in the city, you need to move your precious data with you. As great as cloud technology has become, you still need good internet connection, deep pockets to keep up with the costs, and the hope that nothing happens to the servers.
That is why many people still rely on physical storage devices to keep their data secure and handy on the go. Storage has never been more portable, fast, and affordable. Traditional flash drives that barely held 64gbs evolved to 2tb SSDs that can achieve read and write speeds never before imagined.
With so many new iterations of compact storage, it can be difficult to understand what is actually groundbreaking and what is overkill. In this review, we will be covering the SHARGE Disk, an ultra-lightweight and small portable M.2 NVMe SSD with Active Heat Dissipation System, with 2TB (Maximum) capacity and high read/write speeds of up to 1000 MB/s.
Is this a truly new product that you can’t find on the market? Or this is a product that defines an entirely new product category. In some cases, combining several features into one or introducing a new feature to an old product is also considered an innovation.
SSDs are still a numbers game. How much can it hold, how fast can it read and write, and how long can I use it for? SSDs dominate the plug-and-play storage world for a good reason, you don’t have to download the files to your computer or device to use them. SSDs have been growing smaller and more powerful each coming year.
The SHARGE Disk uses top-of-the-line components to achieve the highest industry standards in the compact SSD with a few tricks up its sleeve. Not only is it super compact and lightweight, just under 25 grams, which works great as a keychain, but it also has a built-in fan.
You may be thinking a fan is an overkill since it is so small that it can dissipate heat easily. But if you ever have used an SSD for transferring lots of files over a long period of time you know this baby can heat up. The built-in 13000 rpm silent fan powered by Active Heat Dissipation System keeps the SSD at a suitable working temperature to prevent any slowdown of file transfer speeds.
It has a built-in male c port so you don’t have a floppy wire swaying your SSD back and forth while you are using a camera. Don’t worry if you have a hard-to-reach spot, it comes with an extension wire that can double as a keyring for carrying it around anywhere. How crafty!
Given the portable nature of this SSD, you would not want it to break apart in case it ever slipped out of your hands. The SHARGE Disk comes in a silicone case that can withstand a 2-meter drop, so you don’t have too much to worry about.
Another great aspect of the SHARGE Disk is that it is super easy to swap out memory. Just push out the aluminum case and swap your SD card and slide it back into place to get right back to work.
Overall this isn’t a complete innovation in the SSD world but does make it much more practical and safe to use. As files get bigger and the need for SSDs rises, people will be glad their SHARGE Disk is not overheating.
How much better is it than the competition? Is it faster? Bigger? Cooler? More affordable? There needs to be a solid reason why you should back this project over any other.

The SHARGE Disk is significantly more compact than the competition. It uses a top-of-the-line M.2 NVMe SSD that all other high-end SSDs use so you are not compromising power for size. There are other Disk kits that can handle higher storage capacities, but they are not in the same price range, or have the ability to handle read and write speeds of 10gb/s or 1000mb/s.
If you need something to use on a daily, the SHARGE is really your best bet. It isn’t that the other SSD Drives are not compact, but they aren’t at that next level of compact and portable to just be able to slap it on any device with one or two fingers with finesse. Plugging in wires and needing to have the SSD rest on the table or use your hands to hold it is super clunky and awkward. You should be able to plug your SSD Disk into any device and forget about it.
You shouldn’t have to worry about your read-and-write speed dropping because it has been more than an hour since your drive was been put to use. Yes, the competition has its own ways of dissipating heat, but almost none of them have a built-in fan. Given that the fan is a simple mechanism, this wouldn’t be considered overengineering for a problem seldom discussed, but given the rise in file sizes, people are going to start to see just how slow their hardware is catching up.
How capable is the team? Have they developed something like this before? Do they have crowdfunding experience? Manufacturing experience? A lot of campaigns fail to deliver their product because they don’t know what they’re doing.
What better way to start off a campaign page on Kickstarter than having 5 of your previous successful campaigns on display: SHARGE has been making cool tech products for years from chargers to power banks.
This looks like their first SSD type of product, but have confidence as they have impressed tech reviewer giants like Marques Brownlee with their STORM 2, a well-designed charger that displays incoming and outgoing power. With a long line of successful products, it should be expected that they can deliver an SSD disk set with no major problems.
How transparent are the campaigners? Do they give their backers valuable updates on their progress? Do they engage with their backers? Crowdfunding is all about community, sharing information, and building meaningful relationships with the people who fund your project.
The campaign has just launched and people are already asking for more. There is a big demand for higher-capacity memory, so maybe the creators will try to fit in a more capable SSD set. The campaign also has 2TB memory cards for sale as add-ons which people are super excited about.
There is no real face to this campaign, just the SHARGE brand, so it is a bit difficult to gauge the team, but you can check out their website for their full inventory of chargers and power banks. With different reviews already posted for their different products, it is great that there is a working prototype during their campaign that they can show.
