The demand for portable laptop screens is growing and the solutions are endless. There have been many attempts to make an additional laptop screen portable in the past but due to tech restraints, wonky builds, and bulky pieces, the market is left wanting more.
For crying out loud, it is a portable monitor. How hard can it be to make?
DUEX Float is a very organic-looking addition to a laptop, even if it only comes in black. All you have to do is attach it to your laptop using the clips or optional magnets, plug it in, and open it up.
What makes DUEX Float stand out is the 3 viewing modes: dual screen, presentation, and desktop mode.
PLAUD NOTE separates itself from the competition with one major upgrade, CHAT GPT integration. No one wants to comb through hours of conversation to find specific bits of information or have to write a summary. The AI automatically summarizes the transcribed text making it super convenient to share, go over, and edit.
The PLAUD NOTE app does much of the heavy lifting for you. It gets the recorded audio from the PLAUD NOTE and uses Chat GPT to instantly transform hours of audio into a neatly organized document that you can easily edit and share.
This is a significant improvement for voice recorders but considering most of the innovation is done from the app, it isn’t that groundbreaking as a device.

How much better is it than the competition? Is it faster? Bigger? Cooler? More affordable? There needs to be a solid reason why you should back this project over any other.

DUEX Float may not seem that much better on paper, but the real advantage of portability and design quality comes into play when in use. It completely meshes with your laptop and can be moved with ease while the competition is mostly just a separate screen with a kickstand that can be turned or flipped around. The fact that the USB-C connects to the entire DUEX Float device and not just directly to the screen keeps the wire tucked away neatly and makes moving the screen much easier without constraints.
The DUEX Float is the only laptop monitor extender that goes on top of the existing screen as almost all the others come out of the sides. This keeps the screen balanced and its kickstand keeps weight off the screen, which other extenders don’t have, causing them to wear out a laptop’s hinges.

Mobile Pixel INC., The team behind PLAUD NOTE is no stranger to the world of extended laptop screens. They have been developing similar products on Kickstarter for years with great success. Their founder Jack developed his first prototype when working at Amazon when he felt that his laptop screen was not big enough to manage all of the apps he was working with.
After 6 successful laptop monitor extenders, he is at it again with the DUEX Float, and going strong. On their website, their whole team discusses how they came about creating portable monitor extenders for laptops and the vision behind their product. You can also find user guides, warranty information, and their patents.
They have had successful campaigns of similar products in the past that were all delivered out and while some have had small bugs and issues, they have stayed true to their warranty and were sent in for repair.
Attitude
How transparent are the campaigners? Do they give their backers valuable updates on their progress? Do they engage with their backers? Crowdfunding is all about community, sharing information, and building meaningful relationships with the people who fund your project.
The campaign is off to a good start with already over $400k raised and lots of good feedback from previous backers in the comment section. They are very present in the comment section responding to questions and concerns.
