Is this a truly new product that you can’t find on the market? Or this a product that defines an entirely new product category. In some cases, the combination of several features into one or the introduction of a new feature to an old product are also considered to be an innovation.
Well, we could find nothing similar to Whipr in the market as it is an all-in-one compact workout tool transferring the feelings and the atmosphere of real skiing, rowing and paddling.
There are plenty of rowing machines which are very big and it is very hard to move them. Whipr stands out with its compact size and you can train your whole body.

As mentioned in the above section, Whipr is very unique in its kind, so for the comparison, we took the points that can be applied to all three functions of the Whipr. Despite the fact that it is not as strong as usual rowing machines, it is still competitive due to its high portability, lightweight and all-in-one nature. Besides, the price is one of the strongest points.

How capable is the team? Will they be able to pull off their design? Experienced engineers, designers, market analysts, operations and other specialists have a huge impact on a project’s success.
Whipr’s team is like a triangle. The bases are two big companies and the CEO or better to say the man who is the “reason” for Whipr.
Luke Tipple is the founder and CEO. He is a marine biologist, shark diver and SUP fanatic. Luke is the host of Discovery Channel and also an executive producer of Action Sports at Delve Creative.
To bring his idea of Whipr into the life he’s teamed up with The Sharp Products which is an engineering and design firm with 30 years of experience and Chris Freeman, the founder and CEO of Black Project SUP, who is the advisor and paddle shaft manufacture.
So, We have a very enthusiastic TV host and a producer plus two well-known and experienced companies which are the masters in their spheres. The beginning is very promising. Let’s dig deeper together and discuss the campaign from all the angles.
Experience
Have they developed something like this before? Do they have crowdfunding experience? Manufacturing experience? A lot of campaigns fail to deliver their product because they don’t know what they’re doing. Or they might spend all the raised funds on getting a fully functional product, but fail to mass-produce it.
I am sure you’ve already understood how experienced these guys are in their fields. But Whipr is their first crowdfunding campaign and they are live on Kickstarter for 9 days. Too early to make judgements or conclusions. But during these 9 days, they have raised almost $1.500.000. This is a very good start.
Transparency
How transparent are the campaigners? Do they give their backers valuable updates on their progress? Having credible and reliable campaigners is one of the deciding factors in building the trust that backers look for.

“On our official timeline (which has now been updated) we intended to commit to this phase after the campaign as it’s quite expensive, but we’re taking every opportunity to future proof our delivery schedule so this puts us a whole month ahead of plans.”

The swim and surf accessory is officially in development and we’re going to fast track in order to deliver it along with this campaign. We’ll provide updates along the way and plan to have renderings and perhaps a prototype by the end of this campaign. It’s not overly complicated and won’t delay Whipr’s original schedule or commitments.”
